Holy Cross Family Ministries (HCFM) is an international Catholic apostolate under the Congregation of Holy Cross. Position Description

The Director of Marketing and Communication is responsible for the image and reputation of the organization and to develop, plan, implement, and evaluate the overall marketing strategy for the organization. The Director will create and execute effective strategies to promote the mission and ministries of HCFM. This role manages a team of External Relations and Marketing professionals to develop, execute, and evaluate strategic marketing plans for specific products, events, programs and services, including plans for the general promotion of HCFM. This position is a spokesperson for the organization at all times and is responsible for ensuring staff is prepared for public appearances.

The Director of Marketing and Communication leads the marketing team, but also works collaboratively with each ministry division within HCFM. This position reports directly to the President.

Qualifications

•A committed Catholic in good standing eager to carry out the mission of Venerable Patrick Peyton who is familiar with Catholic media outlets and influencers.
•Educational background typically gained through completing a Bachelor’s or MBA degree in Communication, Public Relations, Marketing or Business.
•An accomplished Communication Executive with a working knowledge of new media, marketing, public relations, and communications practices and principles. A minimum of five years’ experience in marketing, public relations or related field required.
•Excellent writing and language skills, business management skills, and organizational skills. Awareness of digital marketing tools and platforms.
•Exceeds at building and maintaining relationships.
•Possesses great ability to identify potential negative or crisis situations and apply conflict resolution principles to mitigate issues/comments in digital streams.
•This in-person role works in The Peyton Center in No. Easton, Ma.
•Some travel required.

Marketing Communications

•Lead External Relations team in the development of organizational marketing plans to provide ongoing promotion of the ministry and its existing products, events, and services as well as plans supporting the launch of new products/services.
•Gather research for organizational strategic planning as well as specific research for products, events, and programs.
•Works with IT and other department leaders to design, develop, implement, and revise HCFM websites.

Public and Media Relations

•Serves as a news media liaison and/or spokesperson for the organization. Develops relationships with major media outlets and personnel. Oversees media ad purchases for ministry projects, events, and campaigns.
•Proactive public relations planning as well as relationship management with media sources and outlets. Develops and distributes ministry stories for external distribution and publication.
•Identifies, evaluates, and establishes opportunities for cross-promotion with like-missioned ministries and organizations.
•Maintains press kits for the HCFM ministry and works with teams to manage team specific press kits.
•Develops media materials and oversees media and message training of organization spokespersons or interviewees in effective communication with the media including development of talking points for staff.
•Oversee reporting on media coverage.
•Works with the Vice-Postulator for the Cause of Venerable Patrick Peyton to ensure staff training, public information, and communication guidelines for the beatification process.
•Designs, develops, implements, and evaluates crisis communication and major news communications. Creates holding statements, communication plans for crisis, staff protocols, etc. to ensure proper flow of information to internal and external constituents, press releases, and other media outlets. Ensures that all ministry members are trained in HCFM media guidelines.

Marketing and Engagement

•Design, develop, publish, and distribute promotional brochures, posters, give away items, and other HCFM collateral.
•Manage HCFM content for publication in HCFM and partner organization newsletters, emails, magazines, and other publications.
•Ensure consistent brand delivery across all HCFM ministries. Reviews all external communications periodically to ensure adherence to HCFM’s ministerial and professional goals.
•Evaluates use of art, images, messages, graphics, and moving images to ensure brand consistency across ministries.
•Ensures compliance with reprinting and copyright licensing.

Project and Event Management

•Work with ministry department leaders to create strategies for conference, program, and special projects attendance and presence. Manage registration forconferences, programs, and events. Design booths, key art, messaging andcollaterals. Works with ministry leaders to ensure appropriate HCFM staffing atconferences.
•Ensures HCFM representation at major Catholic conferences, events, and tradeshows.

Communication Management

•Optimize the organization’s digital marketing efforts, including email marketing, search engine optimization, use of social media to reach targeted audiences, and paid advertising.
•Studies, identifies, evaluates, and communicates core audience segmentation for each ministry and for each media platform, website, marketing plan and event plan. Works with social media managers to collect and evaluate data, and ensures target audiences are being reached.
•Plans, designs, and facilitates intra-ministry cross-promotion and communication.
•Coordinates sponsorship ads with other non-profit organizations, websites, or guides.
•Ensures ministry inclusion in various Church directories and publications.
•Manages book publications of HCFM authors or owned intellectual properties.
•Works with producers, project leaders, and department managers to create titles, research appeal, and conflicts with existing Intellectual Properties.

Administrative Responsibilities

•Responsible for developing department budget as well as project budgets. Monito rand track spending throughout the year.
•Responsible for the ongoing management of marketing team including meeting project goals and deadlines, coaching, developing, and managing daily tasks and functions of the team.
•Track and analyze marketing performance metrics to measure effectiveness and make data-driven decisions. Aware of current trends and strategies in print, electronic, and online marketing.
•Develop an annual calendar for ongoing promotion of projects and events.
•Develop ongoing reports for the Executive Team and the Board of Directors.
