The Power of a Mother’s Prayer

I look forward to once again joining the Mothers Who Pray for Their Children at their upcoming gathering at the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette.(Last year, I celebrated Mass for them at the Shrine, as seen in these photos.) This beautiful ministry continues to be a powerful witness to the strength of a mother’s faith and the importance of prayer within the family. I am grateful for the opportunity to be with these devoted women who entrust their children and families to the loving care of Our Blessed Mother and who remind us all that prayer, forgiveness, and trust in God are at the heart of the Christian life. I ask you to join me in praying for these mothers and for all families, that through faith and perseverance, they may continue to be signs of hope and love in our communities.

St. Joseph, A Quiet Witness of Faith and Courage

On the Feast of St. Joseph, we honor the humble strength and faithful witness of the man chosen by God to protect the Holy Family. Though Scripture records no words spoken by St. Joseph, his life speaks powerfully through his trust in God, his courage in uncertainty, and his humble dedication to his vocation as husband and father. St. Joseph reminds us that holiness is often found not in recognition but in daily acts of faithfulness, responsibility, and love. As we celebrate his feast day on March 19, may we ask his intercession for our families, our workers, and our Church, that we too may have the courage to say “yes” to God’s will with the same trust and devotion.

Nine Days of Prayer for Our Priests. Join Us!

In the days leading up to the Chrism Mass, you are invited to join in a special Novena of prayer from March 23 to 31 for our priests, who will soon renew their priestly promises. This time of prayer is an opportunity to thank God for their faithful service, to pray for their strength and holiness, and to ask the Lord to continue blessing their ministry. As part of the Stronger Priests, Stronger Parishes, Stronger Church Initiative, this Novena reminds us that the strength of our Church begins with prayer and our shared commitment to support those who shepherd our communities in faith.

Drawing from the Well of Mercy this Lent

In this week’s Lenten Reflection, Fr. Ryan Healy, pastor of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Acushnet reminds us that this sacred season is not only a time for reflection on our shortcomings, but more importantly, an invitation to deepen our relationship with God. Drawing inspiration from a message of the Holy Father, his reflection reminds us that Lent is ultimately about placing God back at the center of our lives and trusting in His never-ending work of grace within us.

Spring’s Promise and Easter’s Hope

As spring arrives and new life awakens, we are reminded of the promise of renewal that lies at the heart of our Lenten journey. Just as the changing season brings longer days, flowers, and signs of new beginnings, so too does this sacred season invite us to open our hearts to God’s grace and the hope of Easter. In this time of preparation, may we allow the Lord to renew our faith, deepen our trust, and help us grow in love, so that we may share in the joy of the Resurrection with hearts made new.

Sincerely,
