SUMMARY:Men's Meat 'n Greet
DESCRIPTION:Once again\, the Fall River Diocesan Secretariat for the New Evangelization and the Men of St. Joseph apostolate of St. Francis Xavier Parish\, Acushnet\, are joining together to host this third annual Men’s Meat ‘n Greet. The early evening event will feature a barbeque\, team events and supersized yard games\, opportunities for fellowship\, and a presentation by Jay Hamel\, youth minister and men’s ministry leader at St. Francis Xavier Parish. \nAll men of the Diocese are welcome to attend. \nPlanners say this Men’s Meat ‘n Greet is not only for men who are already plugged into their parish and practicing their faith\, but also for men who do not yet know the Lord or who are not currently living a life of faith. \nOn the grill at the “Men’s Meat ‘n Greet” will be pulled pork\, burgers\, hot dogs\, and 50 lbs. of bacon!  On the fields will be a variety of games such as axe throwing\, catapult cornhole and target shooting with potato cannons and a giant slingshot.  A team tractor pull will conclude the outdoor portion of the festivities before presentation\, which will take place inside.  The title of the talk by Hamel\, “By Any Means Necessary\,” will focus on the power of the cross\, and helping our families to get to Heaven. \nThe cost is $20. and registration is required. DESCRIPTION:Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Seekonk is hosting this 2-day School of Healing presented by Encounter Ministries. \nEncounter Ministries is a Catholic ministry that exists “to unleash the transforming power of the Holy Spirit in the world through teaching\, equipping\, and activating disciples to demonstrate the love of God through the power of the Holy Spirit.” It’s work has been endorsed by New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan and a number of other Catholic bishops. \nParticipants in this School of Healing will learn how to use the extraordinary gifts of the Holy Spirit such as Healing and the Word of Knowledge in order to build up the Body of Christ. \nThere is a $65. registration fee to participate in the School of Healing. The sessions will take place on Friday evening\, May 30\, and all day Saturday\, May 31. Participants will be able to attend the 4 p.m. Vigil Mass on Saturday. A healing service at will take place Saturday at 6:30 p.m. \nWhile there is a fee to attend the School of Healing\, the Saturday evening Healing Service is FREE and is open to the public. DESCRIPTION:The annual Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC) collection will be taken up at parishes in the Diocese of Fall River this weekend. This national campaign is designed as a shared collection\, meaning half of the proceeds stay in the local diocese and the other half is forwarded to the CCC office of the U.S. Bishops’ Conference. The portion remaining in the Diocese of Fall River is used to defray costs related to local communication endeavors including the weekly Television Mass and social media outreach . (Proceeds from the annual Catholic Appeal also support the Television Mass and communication projects.) At the national level\, the CCC helps the Church spread the Gospel message through television\, radio\, print\, social networks and the Internet by the U.S. Bishops’ Conference staff and other grantee organizations here in the U.S. and abroad.
