“Addiction: A True Spiritual Malady”

The 2019 summer Speakers Series concludes with this talk and Q&A session addressing the disease of addiction as a spiritual malady with devastating physiological and psychological effects. Participants will come to understand the totality of the disease on the mind, body, and spirit of the afflicted, the effects on the family and friends, and the necessary role that the Church must play in becoming a resource for those suffering from addictions and their families. Presenter will be educator and counselor Keaton Douglas. She is creator and coordinator of the I THIRST Initiative, a comprehensive program which focuses on spirituality in the prevention, treatment and aftercare of those suffering from substance abuse disorders and their families. She is a regular contributor for Relevant Radio, a nationally syndicated Catholic radio station, where she discusses issues on forgiveness, healing and addiction. She has also been part of the “70 x 7” forgiveness retreats offered by Seton Hall University.

This Speakers Series 2019 is sponsored jointly by four parishes: Our Lady of Victory, Centerville; Our Lady of the Assumption, Osterville; St. Anthony, East Falmouth; and Christ the King, Mashpee.
