Holy Hour for Vocations

Join Bishop Edgar M. da Cunha, S.D.V., in this Holy Hour to pray that young men and women hear and respond generously to the Lord’s call to the priesthood, diaconate, religious life, societies of apostolic life or secular institutes. This Holy Hour for Vocations will take place on the evening before seminarian Steven Booth is ordained to the Transitional Diaconate on his journey towards the priesthood and as the Church prepares to observe World Day of Prayer for Vocations on Sunday, May 12th. The purpose of the day is to publicly fulfill the Lord’s instruction, “Pray the Lord of the harvest to send laborers into his harvest” (Mt 9:38; Lk 10:2). This year, May 12th is the fourth Sunday of Easter, also known as “Good Shepherd Sunday.” The name derives from the reading of the Gospel that day in which Christ is described as the “Good Shepherd” who lays down his life for his sheep.

Please note that the location of this Holy Hour has changed. Originally announced for St. Mary’s Cathedral, this Holy Hour will take place in St. Francis Xavier Church in Acushnet,  which is the home parish of seminarian Steven Booth and where he will be ordained a deacon the next day.
