Meditations in Stone: Michaelangelo’s Piéta

Dr. Esperanca Camara, a professor of Art History at the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana, will lead this presentation on the Piéta. Housed in St. Peter’s in Rome, the Piéta is on of the most famous works of art ever made and marked the beginning of Michelangelo’s lifelong meditation on Christ’s death and the Blessed Mother’s suffering. This presentation will examine his deeply personal and theologically-rich reflections on this theme. Dr. Camara’s specialty is Catholic devotional art.
