Tenebrae is a prayer service that includes psalms, hymns, and readings reflecting on the Paschal Mystery. Each year it is celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral during Holy Week as an ecumenical prayer service. The Reverend Elizabeth G. Watson of the First Baptist Church in Fall River will offer the homily. Bishop da Cunha will preside at the service. Tenebrae is the Latin word for darkness and it anticipates the darkness that covered the earth when Jesus suffered death on a cross.
