Guider\, who is a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate of Joliet\, Ill. \nIn 1990\, Sr. Guider joined the faculty of Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Cambridge\, Massachusetts and in 2008\, she became a member of the ecclesiastical faculty of the School of Theology and Ministry at Boston College. Working in the area of Systematic Theology\, her teaching and research interests focus primarily on ecclesiology and missiology. Currently\, she is working on a book length manuscript entitled With Hearts Broken Open: U.S. Franciscan Missionaries in Latin America\, the Caribbean and Africa (1879-2019). Among her most recent publications is a co-edited volume entitled The Grace of Medellín: History\, Theology and Legacy: Reflections on the Significance of Medellín for the Church in the United States. Sr. Guider is the Past-President of the Association of Professors of Mission and former president of the American Society of Missiology. SUMMARY:Celebration of Religious Jubilees
DESCRIPTION:Women and Men Religious are invited to this annual day of camaraderie\, reflection\, Eucharist and celebration with Bishop Edgar M. da Cunha\, S.D.V.\nThe theme of the day is Sustaining the Hope to which we have been called (Ephesians 1:18). \nPresenter will be Sr. Margaret E. Guider\, who is a member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate of Joliet\, Ill. \nIn 1990\, Sr. Guider joined the faculty of Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Cambridge\, Massachusetts and in 2008\, she became a member of the ecclesiastical faculty of the School of Theology and Ministry at Boston College. Working in the area of Systematic Theology\, her teaching and research interests focus primarily on ecclesiology and missiology. Currently\, she is working on a book length manuscript entitled With Hearts Broken Open: U.S. Franciscan Missionaries in Latin America\, the Caribbean and Africa (1879-2019). Among her most recent publications is a co-edited volume entitled The Grace of Medellín: History\, Theology and Legacy: Reflections on the Significance of Medellín for the Church in the United States. Sr. Guider is the Past-President of the Association of Professors of Mission and former president of the American Society of Missiology. DESCRIPTION:The Solemnity of All Saints\, or All Saints’ Day\, is a celebration of all Catholic saints held on November 1 each year. It is a Holy Day of Obligation. All Saints Day commemorates all the blessed in heaven\, and is intended particularly to remember and honor the blessed who have no special feast. “On this solemnity\, we recall the holy men and women who\, having completed their earthly journeys\, now live forever with God. These saints\, though not canonized\, offer us models of abiding faith and love of God and neighbor” (Essential Guide to Seasons and Saints\, 109). SUMMARY:Living the Process of the Synodal Path in the Hispanic Community/Viviendo el Proceso del Camino Sinodal en la Comunidad Hispana
DESCRIPTION:Members of the Hispanic Community throughout the Diocese of Fall River to participate in a daylong workshop to help facilitate participation in the journey of the Synod 2021-2023 now underway in the entire Church. \n“Living the Process of the Synodal Path in the Hispanic Community within the Church” will take place on Saturday\, November 5\, at Bishop Connolly High School in Fall River. Presenter will be Dr. Maria del Pilar Silveira\, a theologian and Visiting Professor at the Boston College School of Continuing Education. \nThe program will include three presentations\, group work\, prayer\, and lunch. At its conclusion Bishop da Cunha will present certificates of participation to those in attendance. \nCost to attend is $15 per person or $35 for families participating with three or four members. (Youth participants should be at least 15 years old.) \nDetails on registration including a mail-in form are provided in English here and in Spanish here.
