St. Ann’s Parish in Raynham, Mass., is a vibrant, family‑centered Catholic community of approximately 1,700 registered families. We are seeking a part‑time Director of Music to lead and enrich the musical life of our parish. The Director serves as a member of the Pastoral Team and is responsible for planning and providing music for all parish liturgies, including weekend Masses, funerals, weddings, Holy Days, and special celebrations throughout the liturgical year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Liturgical Music Leadership

Provide organ music for all weekend Masses, funerals, weddings, Holy Days, and special liturgical events throughout the seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter.

Sing at liturgies as needed.

Plan all liturgical music in collaboration with the pastor/administrator, using the parish hymnal and, when directed, the Liber Usualis.

Incorporate Latin into the sung liturgy during designated seasons or as requested by the pastor.

Encourage active participation of the assembly in hymns and Mass parts.

Choir and Cantor Direction

Direct all parish choirs and cantors, fostering their musical and spiritual development.

Recruit, train, and support qualified choir members and cantors.

Establish and maintain a regular rehearsal schedule in consultation with the pastor/administrator.

Develop and expand parish choirs as needed.

Program Administration

Maintain the parish music library and related resources.

Oversee the care and maintenance of the organ and audio equipment in coordination with the pastor and facility director.

Coordinate substitute musicians when needed.

Assist with or provide instruction for special parish music programs.

Set hymn board or digital hymn number displays for Masses and special liturgies.

Participate in evaluating the goals and outcomes of the parish music program.

Pastoral Presence

Serve as a prayerful and professional example to all volunteers in the music ministry.

Support the liturgical and pastoral mission of the parish through collaboration and communication.

Qualifications

Practicing Catholic who actively participates in the sacramental life of the Church.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in music ministry is preferred.

Excellence in organ performance and vocal ability.

Bachelor’s degree in music preferred.

Strong knowledge of Catholic liturgy, including wedding, funeral, and sacramental music.

Familiarity with traditional and contemporary sacred music, with particular strength in traditional repertoire.

Experience directing choirs and working with volunteer musicians.

Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a parish team.

Availability for evenings, weekends, and Holy Days as required.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, sing, conduct, read music, and speak as needed for liturgical duties.

Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
