The Next Step on the Journey to the Diaconate

The Diocese continues to be blessed with men discerning vocations. Yesterday, eleven men reached an important milestone in their formation when they were instituted as acolytes during a Mass at St. Mary’s Church in South Dartmouth.

The Ministry of Acolyte is one of the final steps before ordination to the diaconate. Through this ministry, these individuals are entrusted with assisting during the liturgy, particularly in the distribution of Holy Communion, while continuing to grow in their vocation to servant leadership.

These men are members of the Diocese’s eleventh Permanent Diaconate formation class and have spent the past four years engaged in study, spiritual formation, and pastoral ministry. They will continue their preparation for another year before their anticipated ordination as permanent deacons.

Those who were instituted as acolytes are:

As these men continue their journey of faith, please keep them and their families in your prayers, asking the Lord to strengthen them in their call to serve His Church and His people!

The Catholic Appeal: Bringing Christ’s Love to Those in Need

Each year, the Annual Catholic Appeal provides hope and assistance to thousands of individuals and families throughout the Diocese of Fall River. Through the generosity of the faithful, the Appeal supports ministries that combat homelessness, bring comfort to patients and their families in hospitals, strengthen Catholic schools and parish communities, support the formation of future priests, and provide resources that help families thrive. This year’s theme reminds us that when the Holy Spirit works through us, we can truly make a difference in the lives of others. The Appeal is coming to a close on June 30th. If you have not yet made a gift, I invite you to prayerfully consider supporting the Catholic Appeal and the many ministries that bring Christ’s love and compassion to those most in need.

Final Reminder! Join Us for This Historic Moment of Faith!

The National Eucharistic Pilgrimage is already in New England and on its way to our Diocese. I warmly invite you to take part in the Pilgrimage as it journeys through Easton, New Bedford, and Fall River on June 29 and 30. This extraordinary moment of prayer and witness offers a chance to join together in Mass, Eucharistic procession, Adoration, and communal prayer as we celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary and our shared faith in the Real Presence of Christ. Whether you are able to attend one event or many, your presence is a gift to this time of grace and renewal. Come and be part of this historic pilgrimage as we walk together in faith, gratitude, and hope for the future of our Church and nation.

With my prayers for you and your families,
