Without it, we cannot be the individuals, the Catholics, nor the Church God calls us to be. In a phrase, the Eucharist is essential to discipleship, and therefore to evangelization. Therefore, we must make a priority the evangelization of Christ\u2019s Eucharistic Presence, which we encounter at Mass and then live out as Church in society by being \u2018commissioned\u2019 to go out at the end of Mass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To this end\u2026I invite all people to take part in this Eucharistic Renewal for our Church.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Bishop Edgar M. da Cunha, S.D.V.<br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fallriverdiocese.org\/journeying-together\/\">\u201cJourneying Together: With Jesus on the Path of Faith and Hope\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Eucharistic Revival was launched in the Diocese of Fall River with the celebration of the Vigil Mass for the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) on Saturday, June 18, 2022. Bishop Edgar M. da Cunha, S.D.V., was principal celebrant at homilist for the liturgy, which was offered in the auditorium of Bishop Connolly High School in Fall River. An outdoor Eucharistic Procession on the school campus followed the Mass. The event concluded with recitation of the Rosary and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube Few Catholics, approximately 30 percent, fully believe in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. This stark reality inspired the Bishops of the United States to action. More than an event or a program, they envisioned a true Revival to rediscover the source and summit of our Faith through a deep commitment of prayer, pilgrimage, and worship on the part of the entire Church in the United States. The advent of the pandemic only accelerated these plans, revealing their urgency and importance. Too many Catholics still have not returned to Mass to celebrate the central mystery of the Church. Taking its title from the Bread of Life discourse in John\u2019s Gospel, \u201cMy flesh for the life of the world\/Mi carne para la vida del mundo,\u201d the Eucharistic Revival is not a step-by-step plan or a series of meetings; it is a grassroots call and a challenge for every Catholic across the United States to rekindle the fire of love and devotion for the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus. Over three years, every Catholic diocese, parish, school, apostolate, and family is invited to be a part of renewing the Church by enkindling a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This Revival launches on the Feast of Corpus Christi, June 19, 2022. Over the next three years, dioceses will host Eucharistic Congresses and processions. Parishes will increase or begin Eucharistic Adoration. There will be a revival of faithful adherence to the liturgical norms in all their richness \u2013 the ars celebrandi. Families and friends will gather in small groups to learn and pray together. Filled with the flame of charity from the reception of Jesus in the Eucharist, missionary disciples will go to the margins, recognizing the mystery of Jesus\u2019 presence in the poor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All of this will culminate in the first National Eucharistic Congress in the United States in almost fifty years.
