FALL RIVER \u2014 Many parishes in the Diocese of Fall River are collecting donations to support hurricane relief for victims of Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this month, Bishop Edgar M. da Cunha, S.D.V., authorized a special collection for disaster relief in the wake of these recent storms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Faced with such a great material needs and suffering among our brothers and sisters to the south,” wrote the bishop in announcing the collection to priests of the Diocese, “I am compelled to authorize a free-will offering in parishes as aid to these victims.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funds collected in parishes for hurricane relief will be forwarded to Catholic Charities, U.S.A. (CCUSA), the official domestic disaster relief agency of the Catholic Church in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

CCUSA explains on its website<\/a> that all donations received for disaster aid will be allocated to Catholic Charities agencies in hurricane-impacted areas that are providing critical relief -including shelter, food and other humanitarian aid- to those most in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parishioners may also make donations to support this work of Catholic Charities agencies through the CCUSA website here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In closing his message on the special collection, Bishop da Cunha said, “With gratitude in our hearts for the blessings we have and a sincere sympathy for all those who are undergoing the trials associated with recovery, let us focus our prayers for them and for effective efforts to provide them with relief.’<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
