TAUNTON – In 2013, Pope Francis declared that a Year of Consecrated Life (YCL) be celebrated throughout the world, beginning on the First Sunday of Advent, November 30, 2014, and concluding on the World Day of Consecrated Life, February 2, 2016. Emphasizing the importance of the religious vocation, the YCL observance offers opportunities for renewal, remembrance and hope.
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has suggested a schedule of “Days with Religious” as ways to celebrate YCL in this country, and among them is a Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life during the September 12-13 weekend. In the Fall River Diocese, this will be observed with a Holy Hour on Saturday, September 12, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Taunton.
Bishop Edgar M. da Cunha, S.D.V., will preside at this Holy Hour. Among participants will be Religious men and women from throughout the Fall River Diocese as well as members of vocations awareness groups from diocesan parishes. Anyone is welcomed to attend and join in prayer in thanksgiving for Religious men and women and for increased vocations to the Church.
St. Andrew the Apostle Church is located at 19 Kilmer Avenue in Taunton.
