FALL RIVER — For more than a century, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Fall River has served individuals and families throughout Southeastern Massachusetts, responding to changing needs while remaining rooted in its mission of service anchored in faith.

That history will be celebrated Thursday, Oct. 22, when Catholic Charities hosts its Centennial Gala at 6 p.m. at Rachel’s Lakeside, 950 State Road, Dartmouth.

The evening will bring together supporters, community partners and friends of Catholic Charities to celebrate more than 100 years of service and recognize the people whose work continues that mission today.

A special feature of the gala will be an opportunity for guests to meet more than 20 Catholic Charities’ program directors. Their work spans a wide range of services designed to strengthen individuals and families facing challenges throughout the region.

“As we celebrate 100 years of service, we are deeply grateful for the community that has stood with Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Fall River through every chapter of our history,” said Susan Mazzarella, CEO of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Fall River.

“The Centennial Gala is an opportunity to look back with gratitude, celebrate the people who continue this work today, and look ahead to the future of our mission,” she said.

Catholic Charities describes its work as “service anchored in faith,” rooted in faith in God and in the ability of people to overcome challenges and thrive. Its mission is carried out through a network of programs addressing some of the most immediate needs facing individuals and families.

Today, Catholic Charities serves over 28,000 individuals annually through emergency shelters, food assistance programs, housing stabilization services, immigration legal services, and other vital community-based programs throughout Bristol County, Cape Cod, the Islands, and surrounding communities.
