Corpus Christi Processions

Two Corpus Christi processions will take place in New Bedford on this day, the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, commemorating the institution of the Holy Eucharist.
At 1:30 p.m., St. Anthony of Padua Parish will hold its procession leaving from the church at 1359 Acushnet Ave. Processing with the Blessed Sacrament, participants will to go to three benediction stations, to St. Kilian Church, 306 Ashley Blvd., to Immaculate Conception Church, 136 Earle St., and then return to St. Anthony’s for the final blessing. At 2 p.m., Our Lady’s Chapel will hold its annual Corpus Christi Procession in the downtown area of the city. It will step-off from the Chapel at 600 Pleasant St. Stops will be made at Our Lady of Purgatory Church, 11 Franklin St., St. Lawrence Martyr Church, 565 County St., and the Missionaries of Charity convent located across the street from St. Lawrence’s. The procession will return to Our Lady’s Chapel with a reception to follow. Our Lady’s Chapel is served by the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate.
