October 10th is World Mental Health Day and October 5-11, the first week of October, is Mental Health Awareness Week.
In recognition of the impact that mental health challenges can have on individuals, their families and caregivers, Bishop Edgar da Cunha will offer two special Masses during the month: Sunday, October 4th, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption, 327 Second Street, Fall River; Saturday, October 24th, 2026, at 4:00p.m. at Corpus Christi Church, 324 Quaker Meeting House Road, East Sandwich. These Masses will be offered for those who have lost a loved one to suicide, drug and/or alcohol use, or mental illness. The Masses will also be offered for those who are currently experiencing mental health challenges.
All are welcome to attend either Mass! A Book of Remembrance will be offered during the Mass for those who have died by suicide or from Mental Health- or Substance Use-related causes.
