Priesthood Sunday is a special day set aside to honor priesthood in the United States. It is a day to reflect upon and affirm the role of the priesthood in the life of the Church as a central one. This nationwide event is coordinated and sponsored by the US Council of Serra International. Priesthood Sunday is celebrated on the last Sunday of September. Priesthood Sunday is for those who cultivate close working relationships with their priests and therefore could benefit from a special day to express their gratitude. It’s a chance to thank and honor priests in unique ways.

PRIESTHOOD SUNDAY PRAYER
Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of priests. Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments. Help our priests to be strong in their vocation. Set their soul on fire with love for your people. Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom. Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel. Allow them to experience joy in their ministry. Help them to become instruments of your divine grace. We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest. Amen.
