In celebration of the nation’s 250th birthday and continuing the National Eucharistic Revival (2022-2025), a National Eucharistic Pilgrimage will be held May 24-July 5 and will include stops in 18 dioceses, including the Diocese of Fall River from June 29-30. The theme of the pilgrimage is “One Nation Under God.”The route, which has been dedicated to St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, the first U.S. citizen to be canonized, starts in St. Augustine, Florida, site of the first Mass to be celebrated on American soil, and concludes in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Its course will bring it through most of the original 13 colonies. The pilgrimage begins Memorial Day weekend and ends Fourth of July weekend and will coincide with the U.S. Bishops’ consecration of our country to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in June as part of its 250th birthday observance.Opportunities to take part in the pilgrimage as it travels through out Diocese include Masses, Eucharistic processions, and Adoration in Easton, New Bedford, and Fall River. Upon arrival, stay to the left to head to the Holy Cross Center (red brick building) and St. Joseph Chapel. Parking is available to the left of Holy Cross Center, as well as behind the Fr. Peyton Center, located to the far right of Holy Cross Center. The procession will conclude with Benediction in the Parish. A shuttle will be available after the conclusion to bring individuals back to Holy Cross Center. New Bedford Eucharistic Procession - 6:15 PM - 7:30 PM 47 S 6th St. New Bedford, MA 02740 to 230 Bonney St. New Bedford, MA 02744Join us for a public Eucharistic Procession in the City of New Bedford. The procession will begin at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish – the oldest Cape Verdean Parish in the country – stop at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, concluding at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish. The procession will be followed by an Evening of Eucharistic Encounter at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Limited parking lot is available both at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish. A shuttle will be available between these two parishes beginning at 5:30 PM before the procession, as well as after the conclusion of the Eucharistic Encounter evening at 9 PM.
