Catholic Schools Office Hires Data Analyst Author: The Most Reverend Edgar M. da Cunha, S.D.V., D.D. In the News 19 Oct 2022 Share FALL RIVER — After an extensive search process, the Diocese of Fall River and the Catholic Schools Office are proud to announce that Diana Iglesias (in photo, right) has been appointed to the newly created position of Data Analyst. The main focus of this role is to develop a central data hub to be used in each of the Diocese’s 19 Catholic school’s cycle for continuous improvement. Advances in technology make gathering data much easier, facilitating the opportunity to make strategic decisions based on real analytics. Across the country, the investment and use of data analytics by Catholic education leadership is considered to be very cutting edge; the Diocese of Fall River is pleased to be on the forefront of this trend. Iglesias recently graduated with the very first cohort of students in the Providence College Master of Science in Business Analytics program. An integral aspect of this rigorous Master’s program was to provide solutions to real life challenges faced by organizations, such as Citi Bank and QuickBase. The ability for these organizations to visualize their data directly contributed to their decision-making process and confidence in those decisions. Diocesan Superintendent of Schools Daniel S. Roy said, “The Catholic Schools Office has worked to centralize data in order to assist schools in making sense of it for the sake of continuous improvement planning. As educators, we can always get better at getting better, and we owe it to our students and families to commit to this work. We are grateful to have Diana on our team. She has hit the ground running with organizing enrollment and demographic data that previously had been under-utilized. She will focus on the expansion and improvement of each school’s vitality dashboard to ensure that school leaders are equipped with data when setting goals and strategic direction.” Iglesias shared that she is “excited to begin my career as the new Data Analyst at the Catholic Schools Office after completing the first Master of Science program at Providence College. It has greatly prepared me to understand how data can be interpreted, as well as how to be creative in the presentation of data. What I loved most about this field is that data can be used to tell a story, and I am very excited to help each Catholic school uncover a story they previously never realized with the use of visualizations to create insightful dashboards.” Iglesias lives in Cranston, R.I. and is a member of St. Charles Parish in Providence.
