Decree Issued for St. Mary, St. Joseph-St. Therese and Our Lady of Fatima Parishes in New Bedford Author: Diocese of Fall River In the News 27 Aug 2021 Share FALL RIVER – Bishop Edgar M. da Cunha, S.D.V., D.D., has decreed that, effective October 11, 2021, the Parishes of St. Mary, Our Lady of Fatima and St. Joseph-St. Therese, all located in New Bedford, be suppressed and the new Parish of Saint Gabriel the Archangel be erected with the one worship site at Saint Mary’s Church. Our Lady of Fatima and St. Joseph-St. Therese Churches will no longer be used as worship sites. The pastoral and spiritual care of the people of the three suppressed parishes will be provided by the Priests assigned to the newly-formed Saint Gabriel the Archangel Parish.
