MASHPEE — Are you looking for a fun family summer event? FACE, the Foundation to Advance Catholic Education, is hosting this evening with Father Leo Patalinghug (in photo), Catholic priest, chef, cookbook author and founder of Plating Grace, a food, family and food movement.

It will take place on Friday, August 10, at 7 p.m. at Christ the King Parish hall in Mashpee. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Light refreshments will be offered after the presentation.

Plating Grace is a movement to bring families back to the dinner table- away from work, school, TV, games, etc.- to share a delicious meal together, to communicate, and to love one another and be nourished -body, mind, and soul. It’s centered on one fundamental concept: the simple act of creating and sharing a meal can strengthen all kinds of relationships.

Introducing the concept of Plating Grace this evening with be the founder and force behind it: Father Leo, a priest member of a community of consecrated life, Voluntas Dei. Father Leo is a best-selling author and the host of Savoring Our Faith on EWTN, which was developed after his dynamic win on the Food Network cooking competition, Throw Down! with Bobby Flay. He is also the founder of a non-profit organization, The Table Foundation, with the mission to elevate culture and family life, one meal at a time.

Born in the Philippines, Father Leo was raised in Baltimore, Maryland, which remains his base when he’s not leading pilgrimages or traveling to speak to groups to promote the importance of not what appears on the table, but who gathers around it.
