Statement of the Diocese of Fall River Author: Diocese of Fall River Press Releases and Statements 26 Jun 2024 Share Statement of the Diocese of Fall River Following the June 26, 2024, News Conference The Diocese of Fall River announced last weekend that an investigation is ongoing into allegations of sexual misconduct against Father Jay Mello, who has been placed on administrative leave. While the investigation continues, the Diocese is not able to provide additional comment on the case. At the conclusion of the investigation, all information including any allegations will be presented to the Ministerial Review Board for evaluation. The Ministerial Review Board serves as an independent and consultative body made up primarily of lay professionals to advise the bishop on alleged misconduct by clergy. Upon its review and discussion of the information, the Review Board will offer recommendations to Bishop Edgar M. da Cunha, S.D.V., for a response to the allegations.
